Evaluate

Improvements? What I did well?
Investigate: (Criteria A)
I think I need to make my explanations more detailed. Some of the questions were complicated and I didn’t really understand them so next time I should ask my teacher/friends. I did put in my best effort, though.
Design: (Criteria B)
Personally I think my group and I took too long answering the Investigate questions that we didn’t really have time to thoroughly discuss our products with each other. We did pick the most appropriate product but we didn’t really have time. Other than that, everything else was good.
Planning: (Criteria C)
We couldn’t really put time into the planning because by the time we got to that part, we only had two lessons left. We should have put more thought into our schedule before we started all this. When we did have two lessons left, we knew that we had to work much faster so we did a two-lesson plan. We weren’t very organized because one of us was falling behind, one was too fast etc.
Create: (Criteria D)
Again, because of the time, we didn’t all contribute to the brochure. We also didn’t have very long to create the brochure so it isn’t our best. I think we did a very good job with the product design and how it looks. Of course, we do need to improve the design of the brochure and we shouldn’t rush it this time.

2. Our product does have a professional appearance. It’s different to the normal paddles and much better for you so that’s why we’re advertising it. This specific design is made for people who do standup surfing.

3. I think our product would be successful in the business world because it’s new, unique and once again, it’s good for you. It does not harm your back and hips like ordinary paddles do. We looked at every point of the paddle and improved it the best we could from a normal paddle.

4. For our design to be improved, maybe we could develop more designs to suit different ages.

Create

Create the brochure:

On the front page/main page of the brochure, my group and I decided to make it attractive, bright and catchy with a picture of our product. That way, if anyone is interested with what they see, they’ll open up the brochure and continue reading. On the inside of the brochure, we’ll have a description of why they should buy the product and what so good about it.

Our Brochure:

Our brochure is a 3 fold/6 - sided one. It includes information about our company, our location and our product. The three green boxes on the location map are the three locations but under the map, we further explained the locations. On the front cover is our final design.

Design

       Design:
·         The gear we decided to design is a paddle for standup surfing.
·         We will advertise this product with a brochure.
·         The packaging will be a box with protection inside.
       Evaluate:
·          Normal design=
Strength: It’s firm and paddles well.
Weakness: It’s bad for the back and hip.
·         Our design=
Strength: Doesn’t harm the hip and back.
Weakness: Might be hard to get used to.
       Resources/Materials:
·         Paper
·         Pencil
·         Adobe Photoshop
·         Printer
·         Publisher
·         Designers
What is so good about our product?
·        Well, the most obvious reason why you should buy our product is because it is much better for your backs and hips than the original design. It’s also unique in shape and it’s designed in a more comfortable way to hold.

Investigation Task

1.       There are different brochures that are used by businesses. Some brochures have more folds than the others and some are just flyers. Magazines and brochures are used a lot in business today because it helps advertise your product. It also raises awareness about your product. It’s not only used for products. It can also be used for events, hotels, cities etc. The type of magazine or brochure always varies depending on the business. Eg: A supermarket or a spa or a car sales shop might use magazines and brochures to advertise special offers or maybe that they’re opening a new store somewhere.

2.       Sports gears come in all different shapes and sizes. Magazines also come in different contents and forms. Magazines usually don’t come in normal paper like brochures, they come in sort of like glossy paper.

3.       The layout of a business brochure/magazine should be attractive and eye catching. It shouldn’t have too much writing on it so that no one would want to waste their time standing there and reading. It must have pictures to give the reader a visual example of what you’re talking about and last of all it should probably have an interesting title/slogan.

4.       Water sports gear can include: Surf boards, water skis and wakeboards.
5.       I think that customers wish that these water sports equipment would come at a cheaper price and also the material of equipment can be a concern.

6.       I’ve done research and I would really like to design a surfboard. I will make it a reasonable price.

8.       These sources were useful because they gave me some knowledge about water sports gear and I’m amazed because I never knew there was a big variety of different water sports gear. These sources are accurate because they’re specialized in water sports gear.

9.       Well, a surfboard seems like an ordinary thing to design but the reason I want to do it is because usually, surfboards are designed by adults. We all know that adults don’t have the mind of a child. So what I want to do is develop around 3 designs using a child’s mind. I might ask my younger brother how we would want a customized surfboard to look like and I’ll ask some of my friends. Once I have their ideas, I’ll pick 3 of the best and try to develop them on Adobe Photoshop.

1.   My questionnaire will include these questions:
·         What colors would you include?
·         Would there be any designs?
·         Any background colors?
·         Which designs would you want?
